Earl Willard Rugraff West Union, South Carolina Earl Willard Rugraff, age 84, loving husband to Linda Dianne Roberts Rugraff, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at his home. Born on October 12, 1940, in Torrance, California, Earl was the cherished son of the late Willard Graves Rugraff and Leona Marjorie Jenson Rugraff. A man of deep curiosity and wide-ranging interests, Earl found joy and fulfillment in both the natural world and the human spirit. He was an avid outdoorsman with a particular love for birdwatching, always keeping his feeders brimming to welcome his feathered visitors. His appreciation for nature extended to a carefully tended bonsai tree collection and a koi pond he adored, where he found peace and reflection. Earl's intellectual curiosity was matched by his creative talents. He was a gifted musician, formally trained in both guitar and flute, and could play a variety of instruments with ease. A voracious reader and lifelong learner, he explored new ideas with enthusiasm and depth. Professionally, Earl was a distinguished psychologist, respected for his insight, compassion, and dedication to his patients. He brought the same thoughtfulness to his love of sailing, where he embraced the rhythm of the water and the challenge of the open sea. Whether savoring a wide array of cuisines or engaging in meaningful conversations, Earl approached life with a generous spirit and a keen mind. He will be remembered for his warmth, his wisdom, and the enduring impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by his children, Bryce Earl Rugraff (Shelby) of Walla Walla, WA, Beth Rashel (George) of Huntington Beach, CA, Lara Lynn Rugraff of Corona, CA, and Earl Ryan Rugraff of West Union, SC; grandchildren, Taryn (Christian), Jordan, Macy (Ty), and Marin; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Harris; and sister, Carolyn Andersen (Hal) of Utah. Mr. Rugraff was predeceased by his parents, Willard Graves Rugraff and Leona Marjorie Jenson Rugraff. The family will hold a memorial service on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the sanctuary of Golden Creek Baptist Church in Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Earl’s honor may be made to Golden Creek Baptist Church, 477 Golden Creek Rd, Liberty, SC 29657. Mountain View Funeral Home is serving the Rugraff family.
