John "Parker" Haskett Jr.

John “Parker” Haskett Jr. Pickens, South Carolina Parker Haskett passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at Clemson Downs, Clemson, SC. Parker was born on February 1, 1945 in Pickens County. Son of the late John Parker Haskett Sr. and Bertha (Nicholson) Haskett, he was a beloved son, brother, husband, dad, granddaddy, and friend. His departing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who loved him. He was the loving husband of Carol Ann (Aiken) Haskett for 54 years. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; son, John “Shannon” Haskett (Maria) of Pickens, daughter Allie “Brianne” Romig (John) of Fort Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Branson and Ashlyn Haskett and Jack, Will, and Drew Romig; four sisters, Jo Anders, Shirley Elrod (William), Fran Wood (Leon), and Reba Chastain; two brothers-in-law, Mike Aiken (Karen) and Ronnie Aiken (Diane); a sister-in-law, Wilma Haskett; several nephews and nieces, and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Parker and Bertha (Nicholson) Haskett, brothers Furman and Lunie Haskett, sisters Lydia H. Welch, Alma H. Elders, Julia H. Gilstrap, Bessie H. Cheek, Jessie H. Trotter Justice, Betty H. Trotter and Jane H. Patterson, brothers-in-law Bert Trotter, Billy Anders, Lee Patterson and Donnie Chastain. He graduated from Pickens High School in 1962. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He worked at Ryobi and operated Haskett’s Corn Mill, Store and Garage before going into insurance. He worked in real estate with Knight Realty for 42 years until his retirement. He never met a stranger and brought a smile to every room he entered. He was a hard worker, often holding multiple jobs simultaneously late into his life. A lover of nature, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, including feeding his favorite squirrel, “Charlie,” by hand. He loved and was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. The visitation, memorial service, and burial will be held on Monday, July 24th at Holly Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 PM. The memorial service will begin at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery.
