Myrtis Kay Collins Pickens, South Carolina Myrtis Kay Collins, 88, loving wife of 68 years to William E. Collins, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 20, 1938, in Pickens, South Carolina, Myrtis was the beloved daughter of the late John Ed Childs and Beulah Dendy Childs. Myrtis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church. She was an avid sports fan who faithfully cheered for the Atlanta Braves, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Clemson Tigers. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball, and she took great pride in keeping a beautiful yard. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life. In addition to her devoted husband, William E. Collins, Myrtis is survived by her children, William Paul Collins (Amy) of Gambrills, Maryland, Sharon McCall (John) of Pickens, South Carolina, Steven Beck Collins (Cara) of Easley, South Carolina, and John Edwin Collins (Sherry) of Anderson, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Shannon Webber (Eric) of Shelby, North Carolina, Zackary McCall of Pickens, South Carolina, Kelsey Collins (Madison) of Charleston, South Carolina, Ashley Allen (Matt) of Middleburg, Florida, Emma Collins of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Ryan Collins (Brittany) of Marietta, South Carolina, and Savannah Collins of Greenville, South Carolina; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Landon, Michael, Ellie, and Beau; her sister, Nancy C. McKinney of Pickens, South Carolina; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Myrtis was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Childs, and her sisters, Linda Jean Martin and Libby Duncan. Myrtis will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her warm heart, and the many happy memories she created throughout her life. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of Crescent Hill Baptist Church in Pickens with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 PM. Mountain View Funeral Home is serving the Collins family.
