Arthur Winfred Sides

Arthur Winfred Sides, 87, passed from this life Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Born in Greenville County, SC on March 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Ulysses Grant and Mae Bell Duvall Sides. Arthur was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Faye Gilcrease of Pickens SC. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Dorothy Lee McMakin Sides of Easley, SC, his two daughters, Sharon Elaine Sides and Teresa Diane Sides, 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. At the age of 19, Arthur served his Country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he received the National Defense service medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a man of many talents. His athletic abilities took him all the way to Japan, where he played professional baseball, setting the tone for years down the road where he would share his love and stories of baseball with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, becoming their biggest fan. Arthur worked for several printing companies throughout his life while the artist inside him would come alive during his free time, becoming nothing short of a masters wood carver. He was a lover of antiques with a wealth of knowledge he could share with just about anyone. Arthur loved his family and cherished every moment he had with them as did they. Mountain View Funerals and Cremations are serving the family. A memorial service will be held for Arthur Winfred Sides on what would have been his 88 birthday, March 4, 2022 at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery at 3pm. Though he will be truly missed, this year Arthur is spending his birthday with the Lord.
