Ernest Clinton Cantrell

Ernest Clinton Cantrell Pickens, South Carolina Ernest Clinton Cantrell, age 77, retired CW4- United States Army, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. Ernest was born on March 28, 1944, in Rosman, North Carolina to Ernest Charles and Verona Lyda Cantrell. He was a faithful Christian and attended New Hope Baptist Church. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired after twenty-six years of service to his country. Ernest worked several years with the SC-DOT as a foreman. He loved working outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He loved his family and his dog “Bones” the most. Those left to honor and cherish him are his wife of thirty-eight years; Sonia Cantrell, his three sons; Chris Cantrell (Christine), Ernest Cantrell (Diane), and Jay Cantrell, his eight grandchildren: Josh, Caitlin, Elijah, Kieran, Tyler, Lauren, Samantha, and Curtis, one great grandchild; Bodhi James, three sisters; Irene, Meddie, and Virginia along with several family members and friends. Mr. Cantrell was predeceased in death by his parents; Ernest Charles and Verona Lyda Cantrell and his brothers; James, John, Douglas, and Darrell. Visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of New Hope Baptist Church in Pickens, SC with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM. Mountain View Funeral home is serving the Cantrell Family.
