Virginia H. Bates Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Virginia H. Bates Pickens, South Carolina Virginia H. Bates, age 79, loving wife to the late John Bates, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at her residence. A native of Jackson County North Carolina, Mrs. Bates was born on September 14, 1942, to the late Vessie and Ollie Galloway Hoxit. She loved her family and to travel. Virginia was a member of Charlie’s Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her children; Keitha Ellenburg (Billy) of Pickens, Eunice Morris of Pickens, and Broadus Bates (Lisa) of Pickens, her grandchildren; Chris Ellenburg, Rose Bates, Stephanie Bates, Johnny Bates, Matthew Morris, and Megan Morris, great grandchildren; Gannon Bates, Denver Bates, Knox Bates, Camille Morris, and Maliyah Morris, a sister; Faye Cassell Carmen, and a brother Palmer Hoxit. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bates was predeceased by her parents, four sisters; Pearlane McCall, Hazel McGaha, Clealon Barrett, and Opal Hoxit, and four brothers; Wayne Hoxit, Newal Hoxit, Carvel Hoxit, and Vaughn Hoxit. Flowers will be accepted. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Charlie’s Creek Baptist Church from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm with funeral services to follow at 1:00. The church is located at 7766 Charley’s Creek Road, Tuckasegee, NC 28783. Burial will take place in the Charlie’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
